Being a believer in parallel universes and the idea that unknown life forms exist, what began as a silly thought brought about by a discussion of our hair clogged shower drain with my flatmate, became a full fledged narrative journey into a hidden world in the pipes and sewage system.

Wanting to emulate a typical dinner table discussion about one of my far fetched theories with my flatmate, the script and narrative takes a conversational approach. Due to the story behind the work being a surrealistic concept brought about in my head, I wanted the graphic output of it to reflect this as well. Rather than having cleaner, commercially stylised 2D animations, I used a bold and colourful palette with simple shapes and digitally hand drawn lines.

The visual motive was to have this as an expressive exploration into my own head, showing how I draw out entire universes filled with characters and storylines. With this backing, the overall look of the video is kept sketchy. As I build the concept up, colour seeps into the picture, adding complexities and nuances into the conspiracy. Whereas when the skeptic, my flatmate, shoots me down with fact and reason, the world becomes more black and white, showing the distinct difference between her reality and my imagination.
