Living in an Indian state known for it’s incessant rainfall, with a four month long monsoon (Goa), during a few of my high school years, this piece was developed as a nostalgic nod towards those times. Though Glasgow too has a tendency for gloomy, drizzle filled weather, it never matched hopping through puddles of water during the storms in Goa.
The sketch itself was made using the creative code software Processing. The code editor uses Java to allow the building of programs and experiences. On playing the sketch, clouds move from left to right, bouncing off the perimeter of the window. When the mouse is pressed on the window, the clouds stop and a bout of lightning appears, lighting up the sky to a muddy grey, darkening the clouds and transforming the rain drops into shades of black and white.
